Instrumental Q&A
Q: What software do you use?
A: For creating my instrumentals, I use GarageBand, Logic Pro, FL Studio, and Suno Studio. For recording, my primary go-to is Pro Tools.
Q: Do you use any loops or samples in your instrumentals?
A: I've been on a journey of growth, and I believe in giving honor where honor is due. Some years ago, I was corrected by my Apostle (Makhario Dobbs) regarding my use of loops and samples, and that correction ultimately changed the way I approach my music. There was a season where this music player was close to empty. I was counseled to remove every instrumental with loops and do original work moving forward.
By God's grace, He has brought me to a place where everything I create is built from scratch. What you hear in my instrumentals consists of ideas that I developed myself, with the help of my music software and production tools.
Q: What about the voices I hear in your instrumentals?
A: Sure thing! The voices you may hear in some of my instrumentals are not samples downloaded from royalty-free websites.
I have plugins and software that allow me to take my own voice, hum or sing a melody idea, and transform it into another voice or sound. The melody itself originates with me. I create the musical idea, then use effects and software to shape and transform my voice into the sound you hear in the final instrumental. Suno Studio is my main go-to for needing a high quality vocal to replace my voice for an instrument or another voice. However, there are other plugins I use such as Waves and Native Instruments. It depends on the track.
In other words, the voice may sound different, but the musical idea and performance originate from me.
Q: Can you create a custom instrumental for me?
A: Absolutely! Most of my work is done in the studio if you're located in Michigan, but I'm also able to work with people virtually, regardless of where you are. If you have a specific sound, melody, concept, or vision in mind, reach out and let's talk about bringing it to life.
Q: What genres or styles of music do you produce?
A: I don't like to get caught up in dabbling in genres, because my inspiration doesn't come from the secular arena. I would honestly classify my music as its own genre.
There are times when someone may not have the same level of understanding or vocabulary that I have when it comes to music, so they may describe a particular style or sound they're looking for. I'm able to understand their description and use it as a starting point for the creative process.
Ultimately, my first priority is to pray before creating anything. I want to make sure that the Holy Spirit is the ultimate Creator behind whatever we come up with. My goal isn't simply to make something that sounds good—it's to create something with purpose.
Q: Can I request changes to an instrumental?
A: Yes, absolutely! If there are changes you'd like to make to an instrumental, reach out and let me know what you're looking for. We'll discuss the changes and determine the best way to bring your vision together.
Q: How much do your instrumentals cost?
A: My prices are negotiable and may vary depending on the project and what you're looking for. Please reach out to me for pricing.
Q: Can you mix and master my finished song?
A: Absolutely! If you've already recorded your vocals and have a finished song that needs to be mixed and mastered, I'd be happy to discuss your project with you.
